The Northridge Raiders entered their tilt with the Carroll Chargers with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Northridge strolled past Carroll with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 66-47. Given Northridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Carroll is ranked 196th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northridge was led to victory by Morgan Cross and Ella Mohamed. Cross scored 16 points along with 6 rebounds, while Mohamed went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 23 points and 0 assists. Mohamed continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Rielyn Goodwin, who scored 11 points along with 7 rebounds.
Carroll's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lily George, who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. George scored a full 27.7% of Carroll's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jersey Paul, who scored 15 points.
Carroll struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Northridge pulled down 15.
Northridge has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 9-1 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.6 points per game. As for Carroll, they have fallen quite a ways from their 16-8 record last season and are now at 2-8.
Northridge will head out on the road to face off against Wawasee at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wawasee is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games. As for Carroll, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Warsaw at 7:30 a.m. Warsaw and Carroll are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads.
