The Wesson Cobras will square off against the Warren Central Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Wesson has given up an average of 14.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Tuesday just wasn't the day for Wesson's offense. They lost 12-0 to Florence on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Cobras' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Warren Central). They never let Vicksburg get on the board and left with a 23-0 victory on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Madison Pant made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Pant was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on KeKe McKay, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mari Kynlea Ferguson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Warren Central lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Wesson's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Warren Central, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Wesson has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .534. However, it's not like Warren Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .493. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wesson was able to grind out a solid win over Warren Central in their previous meeting back in February of 2025, winning 7-4. Do the Cobras have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
