4A Conference 23 recap November 13, 2013
Amherst County's D A Christian rumbled for the longest rushing play in 4A Conference 23 this season in his game against Brookville last week. Christian scampered for 74 yards on the play and finished with 121 on the day as his team fell to the Bees.
Charlottesville made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,747 from 6,726. The improvement was the result of a 28-16 victory over Powhatan last week.
Amherst County's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Christian threw for 75 and 2 touchdowns and Darius Wilson had 75 yards receiving. On the ground Christian chipped in 121 yards.
Christian was the most successful running back in the league this week. Deandre Kyle also contributed to the rushing game with 75 yards on the ground.
Amherst County's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Lancers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Christian has thrown for 564 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Wilson has 29 catches for 526 yards. Christian also leads the league in rushing with 876 yards.
Handley led 4A Conference 23 in scoring this week after putting up 49 points on Wood.
