The Peyton Panthers will challenge the Limon Badgers at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Peyton will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Peyton came out on top against St. Mary's on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Pirates. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by seven runs or more this season.
Noah Martin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Zayden Ebbert was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Liam Stewart was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Peyton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Yuma hit Limon with a five-run second inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Badgers lost 11-3 to the Outlaws.
Limon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Quinten Blatnick, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Brooks Scherrer, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Peyton's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Limon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-6 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Peyton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Limon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Peyton might still be hurting after the 22-12 defeat they got from Limon in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
