The Hampton County Hurricanes came tearing into Friday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Woodland with points to spare, taking the game 69-53. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 13 to 6 on the offensive boards, as Hampton County did.
Kavon Chisolm continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 16 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Ja'mere Martin, who scored 13 points.
Woodland lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tyree Edwards, who scored 27 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Edwards hasn't dropped below two steals for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of JaKease Salley, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Hampton County pushed their record up to 17-5 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for Woodland, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hampton County will take on the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Edisto is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. Woodland will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Hopefully Ridgeland-Hardeeville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Wednesday.
