Westlake has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Patuxent Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Westlake will be strutting in after a win while Patuxent will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Friday, Westlake strolled past Huntingtown with points to spare, taking the game 66-48. The victory was just what Westlake needed coming off of a 53-32 defeat in their prior game.
Westlake got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ethan Relf out in front who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Relf has scored all season. Linwood Robinson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Meanwhile, Patuxent's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 75-52 walloping at the hands of Northern. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Patuxent in their matchups with Northern: they've now lost seven in a row.
Westlake's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Patuxent, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Westlake against Patuxent when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 83-49 victory. Will Westlake repeat their success, or does Patuxent have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
