Madelyn Lasater made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI.
In other batting news, Sawyer Butacan was a standout: she scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those stolen bases marked the first that she snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Julianna Chavez, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Trinity Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Old Plank Christian Academy lost 14-5 to Harvest Community on Tuesday.
Sophia Rodriguez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-3. Mia Wilkins was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Old Plank Christian Academy's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Trinity Christian Academy, their record now sits at 2-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Trinity Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Old Plank Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Trinity Christian Academy's way against Old Plank Christian Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Trinity Christian Academy made off with a 16-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Trinity Christian Academy since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
