It was a good run, but the Benson Bobcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They received a tough blow as they fell 51-33 to St. David. Benson lost against St. David in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 52-39 score last time.
Benson's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trinity Foy, who scored 3 points along with 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Foy hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Moon, who scored 7 points.
St. David's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mayla Trejo led the charge by scoring 17 points along with 6 steals and 5 assists. The game was Trejo's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Anissa Jacquez was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds.
Benson's defeat dropped their record down to 3-1. As for St. David, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Benson will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on San Miguel at 7:00 p.m. on December 5th. As for St. David, they will be playing at home against Joseph City at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Joseph City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
