Joaquin is 2-8 against Shelbyville since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Joaquin will host Shelbyville at 6:05 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Joaquin is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 17-5 margin over San Augustine on Friday. The Rams not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 27th.

Hunter Kay and Brennan Kilpatrick made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Kay tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Kilpatrick pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits Kay has allowed since back in February. At the plate, Kay went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI, while Kilpatrick scored a run while going 1-for-1. Those two RBI gave Kay a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Duncan McCann, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carter Graves, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
Meanwhile, Shelbyville waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Bears. That's two games straight that the Dragons have won by exactly two runs.
Like Joaquin, Shelbyville also got a great game from a two-way player: Tanor Doggett. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Doggett was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Those stolen bases were his first of the season.
In other batting news, Shelbyville got a big performance out of Jaxon Lambright, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Tate Obregon was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Shelbyville pushed their record up to 10-5-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Joaquin, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-5.
Joaquin couldn't quite get it done against Shelbyville when the teams last played back in March of 2024 as they fell 8-4. Can Joaquin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
