The Sterling Jets will head out on the road to face off against the East Butler Tigers on Saturday. Sterling is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Sterling came up short against Meridian and fell 47-35.
Despite the defeat, Sterling saw an underclassman step up: Brody Horstman scored 20 points. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Colin Wambold, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, East Butler suffered a rough 59-35 loss at the hands of Osceola last Thursday. That's two games in a row now that East Butler has lost by exactly 24 points.
Sterling bumped their record down to 0-5 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.6 points per game. As for East Butler, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.
Sterling didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against East Butler in their previous meeting back in December of 2017, but they still walked away with a 61-55 victory. Does Sterling have another victory up their sleeve, or will East Butler turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
