The Saint Francis Lancers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 24-14 victory over Valley Christian. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Saint Francis also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
Saint Francis got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aaron Knapp out in front who threw for 130 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Perrion Williams, who picked up 85 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Saint Francis' win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 29.0 points per game. As for Valley Christian, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Saint Francis will take on Archbishop Riordan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Archbishop Riordan will be hoping to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last. As for Valley Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Serra at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Serra knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Valley Christian likes a good challenge.
