The Spanish Fork Dons will venture away from home to face off against the Springville Red Devils at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Spanish Fork is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over Cedar Valley on Thursday. The Dons haven't had any issues with the Aviators recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Swae Nielson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nixon Warren, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Trigg Cloward also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Spanish Fork kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in seven consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Springville waltzed into their contest on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Skyhawks as they made off with a 13-3 victory. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Red Devils this season.
Zander Oakey tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits.
At the plate, Reid Deede was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Springville: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-10 otherwise. Easton Van Sickle was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Spanish Fork's record is now 6-12. As for Springville, their record now sits at 8-11.
Spanish Fork came up short against Springville in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 6-3. Can the Dons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
