Basketball Recap: Community Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Anna Haskins and Alyssa White

Community fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Huntland on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Huntland Hornets by a score of 56-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Vikings/Viqueens have suffered since February 13, 2024.

Alyssa White and Anna Haskins certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. White almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards, while Haskins posted 14 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance also gave White a new career-high in blocks (five). Brooklyn Yoes was another key player, putting up two points along with seven assists and five boards.

Community's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-13. Their recent woes sure aren't a result of their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 35.1% in those games and 30.4% outside of them. As for Huntland, the win got them back to even at 11-11.

Community wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 50-46 loss against Richland on the 31st. Huntland has also already played their next match (against Fayetteville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
