East Webster and Houston are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. The Wolverines will challenge the Hilltoppers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (East Webster has three straight victories, Houston has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
East Webster came out on top against Philadelphia on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Wolverines blew past the Tornadoes 9-2. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by seven runs or more this season.
Jasie Rae Flora made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Flora was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Faith Edwards, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Rainey Gray, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
East Webster kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Houston suffered their closest loss since March 17, 2025 on Thursday. They fell just short of Mooreville by a score of 6-4.
Mylee Kirby was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cydnee Webb, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
East Webster's record is now 11-7. As for Houston, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. East Webster hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .406. However, it's not like Houston struggles in that department as they've averaged .353. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
East Webster beat Houston 7-4 in their previous matchup on Monday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
