Beech Grove is 8-1 against Indianapolis Lutheran since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Beech Grove Hornets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Indianapolis Lutheran Saints at 7:30 p.m. Beech Grove is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
Beech Grove suffered their biggest loss since December 16, 2023 on Wednesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 71-49 walloping at the hands of Southport. While losing is never fun, Beech Grove can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while Southport is ranked 136th).
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Jarron Murry jr. and Michael Johnson. Johnson had a great game and scored 17 points along with five rebounds. Meanwhile, Murry jr. did his best for the losing side, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Beech Grove were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. This was only their ninth loss (out of 12 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Meanwhile, Indianapolis Lutheran came up short against Triton Central on Saturday and fell 63-54. Indianapolis Lutheran has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Beech Grove has fallen quite a ways from their 17-7 record last season and are now at 3-12. As for Indianapolis Lutheran, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season.
Beech Grove didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Indianapolis Lutheran in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 55-49 victory.
