Basketball Game Preview: Winston-Salem Prep Phoenix vs. Bishop McGuinness Villains

Winston-Salem Prep and Bishop McGuinness are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2021, but not for long. The Winston-Salem Prep Phoenix will head out to challenge the Bishop McGuinness Villains at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Winston-Salem Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 72.8 points per game this season.

Winston-Salem Prep will head out to face Bishop McGuinness after giving up their first home loss of the season on Friday. Winston-Salem Prep fell just short of College Prep & Leadership Academy by a score of 47-45. The game marked the Phoenix's lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Winston-Salem Prep might have lost, but man, Ahmir Wiggins was a machine: he posted 19 points. Wiggins' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Hahsasah Simmons, who had eight points.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Bishop McGuinness beat George Wythe 49-45 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Villains.

Winston-Salem Prep's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-1. As for Bishop McGuinness, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.

Winston-Salem Prep took a serious blow against Bishop McGuinness when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 71-20. Can Winston-Salem Prep avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
