The Lamar Thunder entered their tilt with the Salida Spartans with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Lamar came out on top against Salida by a score of 37-29 on Saturday. That's two games straight that Lamar has won by exactly eight points.
Leading Lamar to victory were Josylynn Rodriguez and Brooklyn Robbins. Rodriguez scored eight points along with 15 rebounds, while Robbins scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Robbins has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Chloe Weber was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Juliana Anch, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Braeden Johnson, who scored four points along with three steals.
Salida struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lamar pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.
Lamar's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-9. As for Salida, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-9.
Lamar will be playing in front of their home fans against Rocky Ford at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Salida, they will head out on the road to challenge Buena Vista at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Buena Vista has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 178 points over their last three contests.
