The Ponderosa Mustangs stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 67-29 win over Evergreen on the road. Given Ponderosa's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Evergreen is ranked 240th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Carson Keach continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Connor Miskovic was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four steals.
Despite the loss, Evergreen still got an impressive performance from Hayden Riddle, who scored four points along with five rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Riddle grabbed two or more steals.
Ponderosa pushed their record up to 11-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.3 points per game. As for Evergreen, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ponderosa and Regis Jesuit will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Regis Jesuit focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday. As for Evergreen, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Alameda at 7:30 p.m. Alameda is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
