Desert Mountain gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Saguaro Sabercats, sneaking past 24-21. For the Wolves, this counts as revenge for the 55-9 win the Sabercats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2019.

Grant Garduno threw for 250 yards and three TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes. Ryan Cratty was his top target, picking up 53 receiving yards.

Despite the loss, Saguaro still got an impressive performance from Ty Strozier, who rushed for 88 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries.

Looking ahead, Desert Mountain will square off against Arizona College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Saguaro, they will take on Chaparral at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
