The Montezuma-Cortez Panthers can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 71-25 win over Bayfield. The win was just what Montezuma-Cortez needed coming off of a 79-42 defeat in their prior contest.
Montezuma-Cortez's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Taylor Whited, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Whited has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Markylla Jones, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and six steals.
Despite the loss, Bayfield still got an impressive performance from Renae Foutz, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That was a full 68% of Bayfield's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Montezuma-Cortez is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Bayfield, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
