Even though the Miller County Pirates scored an imposing 57 points on Saturday, the Quitman County Hornets still came out on top. Quitman County took their game against Miller County 66-57. The win made it back-to-back wins for Quitman County.
Jayden McCray and Andrew Keown certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. McCray scored 20 points, while Keown scored 20 points. McCray has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kia'Londre Butler, who scored eight points.
Quitman County's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-9. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points per game. As for Miller County, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Quitman County will take on Randolph-Clay at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Miller County, they will head out on the road to face off against Early County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Early County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups.
