Two dominant forwards in John Price and Jed-ethan Nansha are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The White Longhorns will head out on the road to face off against the Hillcrest Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hillcrest took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on White, who comes in off a win.
In what's become a running theme this season, White gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Sunset 96-19 at home. Given White's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while Sunset is ranked 1262nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hillcrest suffered their biggest loss since December 12, 2023 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Kimball on the road and fell 83-54. Hillcrest has not had much luck with Kimball recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Creed Vance, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Saivon Johnson, who scored eight points along with seven steals and five rebounds.
White's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-5. As for Hillcrest, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-13.
White was able to grind out a solid victory over Hillcrest in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 62-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for White since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
