Softball Recap: Olympic Find Success

While Olympic's win against Sequim wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Trojans won by a run and slipped past the Wolves 11-10. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won eight in a row.

Jules Richmond and Sophia Brown were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Richmond tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Brown struck out six batters over 9.2 innings while giving up seven earned (and two unearned) runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). Richmond has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. At the plate, Richmond got on base in two of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run, while Brown went 3-for-6 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Brown has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Paige Gordon was a standout: she got on base in four of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Emerson Duncan, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Olympic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Olympic's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Sequim, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-11.

Looking ahead, Olympic will look to defend their home field on Monday against Central Kitsap at 4:15 p.m. The Cougars will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. Sequim does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
