On Wednesday, Buckhorn was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 53-47 to Pell City. Buckhorn has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Pell City's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Iyana Allen, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. Reagan Tarver was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds.
Buckhorn has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for Pell City, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buckhorn will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Guntersville at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. Pell City won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Scottsboro at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th. Scottsboro will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
