Massac County had lost six straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 13-16-1 to make it seven. They fell just short of the Ballard Memorial Bombers by a score of 10-9. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bombers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-4 last Saturday.
Massac County got a good showing from Addyson Weaver, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Madelyn Wedeking was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Sadie Kaylor, who went 1-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
As for Ballard Memorial, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-15 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games.
On Ballard Memorial's side, G Glisson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Glisson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, A Alexander was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. A Hargrove was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Massac County will challenge Marshall County at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Ballard Memorial, they will square off against Crittenden County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
