The Valley Center Jaguars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They received a tough blow as they fell 87-68 to Mt. Carmel. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Wednesday (55), Valley Center still had to take the loss.
Defeat or not, Valley Center got some senior leadership from Carson Yoder and Kevin Garcia. Yoder scored 22 points along with five assists and two steals, while Garcia. almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Josh Ginella, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Mt. Carmel's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Raymond Hourani, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 17 rebounds. Hourani has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Gianni Bernabe was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 assists.
Valley Center's loss dropped their record down to 15-13. As for Mt. Carmel, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 16-12 record this season.
Valley Center does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mt. Carmel also has no future games currently scheduled.
