1A-1 Region I District 4 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Anson moved up to 583 from 784 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 1A-1 Region I District 4. A 46-13 win over Miles helped the Tigers improve their standing.
Forsan extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Jim Ned, 25-21. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Buffaloes.
Stamford's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Hagen Hutchinson threw for 351 and four touchdowns and James Washington had 87 yards receiving. On the ground Hutchinson chipped in 113 yards. Austin Alvarado helped Stamford's passing attack out by catching six balls for 74 yards.
The Bulldogs' Hutchinson and Washington have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Hutchinson has thrown for 753 yards this season, while Washington, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 22 catches for 257 yards. Brendan Roman from Forsan leads the league in rushing with 389 yards.
Jason Phillips's team and the Indians played the most hotly contested game in 1A-1 Region I District 4 this week, with Jason Phillips's team eventually emerging with a 25-21 victory. Marcus Cervantes threw for 93 yards and one touchdown and ran for 39 yards in the win.
