Elkhart Christian Academy has been on the road for seven straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Hamilton Marines at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, Elkhart Christian Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 37-33 to Calumet Christian.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Sydni Haviland, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and four steals. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ryleigh Viront, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Elkhart Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Hamilton's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Prairie Heights, falling 50-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Hamilton has suffered since November 4, 2023.
Elkhart Christian Academy's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 8-11. As for Hamilton, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.
Elkhart Christian Academy beat Hamilton 36-23 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Will Elkhart Christian Academy repeat their success, or does Hamilton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
