The Scottsdale Preparatory Academy Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their sixth straight loss. They took a hard 56-38 fall against Highland Prep. Scottsdale Preparatory Academy lost against Highland Prep in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 92-31 score last time.
Scottsdale Preparatory Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Luke Morgan, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Ryken, who scored 12 points.
Highland Prep got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kohen Hill out in front who scored 14 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Hill pulled down eight or more rebounds. Tarrell Green was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Scottsdale Preparatory Academy's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-9. As for Highland Prep, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Scottsdale Preparatory Academy will take on Madison Highland Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Madison Highland Prep will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Highland Prep won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mountainside at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th. Mountainside will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 286th, while Highland Prep is ranked 134th).
