After flying high against the North College Hill Trojans last Saturday, the Roger Bacon Spartans came back down to earth. Roger Bacon was beaten by Cincinnati Country Day 57-14 on Wednesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Roger Bacon has scored all season.
Roger Bacon's loss came despite strong showings from Mariah Henderson and Morgan Rohling. Henderson scored four points, while Rohling scored four points along with seven rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Roger Bacon struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Cincinnati Country Day's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Megan Zimmerman led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Zimmerman has scored at least 25% of Cincinnati Country Day's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Easter, who scored 16 points along with four steals.
Roger Bacon bumped their record down to 1-4 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.7 points per game. As for Cincinnati Country Day, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Roger Bacon will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Purcell Marian at 6:00 p.m. Purcell Marian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Roger Bacon in Ohio (Purcell Marian is ranked fourth, while Roger Bacon is ranked 571st). As for Cincinnati Country Day, they will head out on the road to face off against Williamsburg at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Williamsburg is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
