The East Hickman County Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting University School of Jackson an easy 67-47 victory. While losing is never fun, East Hickman County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 276th, while University School of Jackson is ranked 73rd).
University School of Jackson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mills Terry led the charge by scoring 18 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Those six assists set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Smith, who scored 19 points.
East Hickman County's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-9. As for University School of Jackson, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.
East Hickman County will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Stewart County at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Stewart County is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home. University School of Jackson is on the road again on Thursday and play against Jackson Central Merry at 11:30 a.m. on December 28th. Jackson Central Merry comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
