At the plate, St. Petersburg let Brody Nelson and David Di Angelo run wild. Nelson scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while Di Angelo scored three runs while going 2-for-5. Those three runs gave Di Angelo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Leo Smith, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
St. Petersburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 10.6.
Meanwhile, Pinellas Park didn't have quite enough to beat Seminole on Tuesday and fell 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Patriots have suffered against the Warhawks since April 5, 2019.
Dean Ross made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Pinellas Park is 3-1 when Ross posts two or more runs, but 3-10 otherwise. Daunte Dixon was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
St. Petersburg's victory bumped their record up to 7-9-1. As for Pinellas Park, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
