The Berry Cardinal will head out on the road to challenge the Harding University Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Berry pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Ardrey Kell at home by a decisive 72-57 margin. While losing is never fun, Berry can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 338th, while Ardrey Kell is ranked 72nd).
Meanwhile, Harding University's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 77-61 to Mallard Creek. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Berry's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Harding University, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.
Berry came up short against Harding University in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 60-53. Can Berry avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
