Escambia is 1-9 against Tate since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Escambia Gators will head out on the road to face off against the Tate Aggies at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Tuesday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Escambia had to settle for a 65-62 defeat against Choctawhatchee. While losing is never fun, Escambia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 334th, while Choctawhatchee is ranked 124th).
The losing side was boosted by Tae Gaston, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. He set a new season high mark in blocks with two. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayshaun Gilcrist, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Tate came up short against Pine Forest on Monday and fell 65-57.
This is the second loss in a row for Escambia and nudges their season record down to 4-6. As for Tate, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Escambia came up short against Tate in their previous meeting back in February, falling 74-61. Can Escambia avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
