After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Central Valley Academy, the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Red Devils were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Holland Patent out 55-52. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Vernon-Verona-Sherrill has posted yet this season.
Several Golden Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Terralyn McLaughlin, who scored 12 points along with six steals. McLaughlin is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Faith Zylinski, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Vernon-Verona-Sherrill is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-7 record this season. As for Holland Patent, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
Vernon-Verona-Sherrill will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Oneida at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th. Oneida will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line. Holland Patent won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Notre Dame at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. One thing working in Notre Dame's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven games.
