The Lake Pointe Academy Mariners were the 37-30 winner over the Westgate Christian Eagles when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Lake Pointe Academy was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 49-48 to the Eagles. Lake Pointe Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Christian Mayhall and Joshua Luke certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Mayhall scored 18 points, while Luke scored 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mayhall has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Keagan Hiser, who scored eight points.
Lake Pointe Academy has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for Westgate Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 1-7.
Lake Pointe Academy will head out on the road to face off against the at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Bob Jones Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 12 contests. As for Westgate Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the at 7:00 p.m. Hampton Park Christian presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Eagles in South Carolina (the are ranked 57th, while the Eagles are ranked 252nd).
