After four games on the road, Las Animas is heading back home. They will take on the Crowley County Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Las Animas has insisted on making their lastfour contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-3 during that stretch of close contests.
Back in December of 2023, Las Animas was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 57-53 to Hoehne.
Despite their loss, Las Animas saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Brander Nichols, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, was perhaps the best of all. Nichols is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tj Ortiz, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Crowley County put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Swink with points to spare, taking the game 51-37. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Crowley County has scored all year.
Las Animas has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for Crowley County, their win was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0.
Las Animas was taken down by Crowley County 71-32 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Las Animas avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
