Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sterling). They put the hurt on the Galesburg Silver Streaks with a sharp 30-4 win on Tuesday. Considering the Golden Warriors have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Mya Lira was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Marley Sechrest, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs.
Sterling hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive contests.
Sterling has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
