Softball Recap: Legacy Gets the Win

After losing to Grandview the last time they met, Legacy decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Lightning walked away with an 11-8 win over the Wolves on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lightning.

Kady Cosyns spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and seven unearned) runs on 11 hits.

At the plate, Prisca Smolens was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Sandusky, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Legacy's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Grandview, they dropped their record down to 10-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Legacy will square off against Mead at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lightning's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mavericks have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Grandview, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Smoky Hill at 4:15 p.m.
