The Buckeye Hawks scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They breezed by Copper Canyon at home to the tune of 79-33. Buckeye has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 30 points or more this season.
Buckeye was led to victory by Isabel Ramirez and Amayah Leyva. Ramirez dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds, while Leyva dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ramirez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikalah Tensley, who scored nine points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
The win was the fifth in a row for Buckeye, bringing their record for this year to 12-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.6 points per game. As for Copper Canyon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Buckeye will play host again and welcome Independence, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Independence has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Copper Canyon, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Glendale at 7:00 p.m. Glendale is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
