The LaConner Braves came tearing into Friday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Sultan 48-28. LaConner might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four matchups by 20 points or more this season.
LaConner found their leader in underclassman Maeve Mccormick, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Mccormick has scored at least 25% of LaConner's points. Another player making a difference was Nora Mccormick, who scored 12 points.
LaConner's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Sultan, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. LaConner will be home for the holidays to greet Oakville at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Oakville will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while LaConner is ranked 19th). Sultan will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on King's at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
