Batavia is 8-2 against St. Charles East since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Batavia Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the St. Charles East Fighting Saints at 7:15 p.m. Hopefully Batavia focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Monday.
Batavia scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They breezed by Glenbard North at home to the tune of 90-19. Batavia might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won seven games by 20 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Batavia to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kylee Gehrt, who scored 23 points. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Addison Prewitt, who scored 11 points along with eight steals and seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, St. Charles East earned a 52-45 win over Neuqua Valley on Saturday. Given St. Charles East's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Neuqua Valley is ranked 116th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Batavia's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.9 points per game. As for St. Charles East, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
Batavia beat St. Charles East 49-39 when the teams last played back in February. The rematch might be a little tougher for Batavia since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
