The Mansfield Tigers will face off against the Salem Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Mansfield comes in on five and Salem on 11.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Mansfield had no problem doing just that on Friday. They won a contest that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Hoxie 14-13. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but Mansfield was the better team in the second half.
Meanwhile, Salem stacked a sixth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Jessieville on the road to the tune of 44-16. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Salem just coasted through the last quarter.
Salem can attribute much of their success to Kaden Brink, who rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and Elijah Romine, who rushed for 123 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Romine is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played.
Their wins bumped Mansfield to 10-2 and Salem to 11-0.
