The South Rowan Raiders lost against the Lake Norman Charter Knights back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. South Rowan fell to Lake Norman Charter 53-48. South Rowan has not had much luck with Lake Norman Charter recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
South Rowan lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kynlee Dextraze, who scored 12 points along with two blocks. That's the first time this season that Dextraze posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Danica Krieg, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, South Rowan were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Lake Norman Charter found their leader in underclassman Caroline Mercuri, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Mercuri scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Courtney, who scored ten points along with eight assists and five steals.
South Rowan's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-10. As for Lake Norman Charter, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-10.
South Rowan will face off against Carson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Carson is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Lake Norman Charter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Central Cabarrus at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Central Cabarrus focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday.
