The Fulshear Chargers entered their tilt with the Porter Spartans with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Fulshear sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-51 win over Porter on Thursday. Given Fulshear's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while Porter is ranked 595th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Ruke Ogbevire, who scored 25 points along with three steals. The contest was her 17th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Semmler, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Fulshear's win bumped their record up to 16-2. As for Porter, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.
Fulshear won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Cypress Springs at 9:30 a.m. on December 29th. Cypress Springs is coming into the game hot, having won their last 12 games. Porter won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Nimitz at 8:00 a.m. on December 29th. Nimitz has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
