The Cupertino Pioneers will head out on the road to square off against the Saratoga Falcons at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday. Cupertino is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.
Cupertino posted their biggest victory yet this season on Thursday. They really took it to Lynbrook for the full four quarters, racking up a 64-32 victory at home. Given Cupertino's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while Lynbrook is ranked 751st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cupertino's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Max Feldan, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three blocks, and Max Lin, who went 7 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points and 1 assist. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lin has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Yu, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Saratoga posted their closest win yet this season on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Monta Vista 52-50.
Cupertino's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-1. As for Saratoga, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-10 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Cupertino, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 55-36 loss to Saratoga when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Cupertino avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
