The Salesianum Sallies will square off against the Wilmington Friends Quakers on Thursday. Coming off of a win even when the odds were against them, Salesianum has to be feeling especially confident with the MaxPreps rankings on their side for this one.
On Tuesday, the Sallies faced St. Elizabeth in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Salesianum strolled past St. Elizabeth with points to spare, taking the contest 64-52.
Meanwhile, we expected Wilmington to have trouble with the significantly higher-ranked Sanford on Tuesday, and they did. Wilmington ended up on the wrong side of a painful 67-40 walloping at Sanford's hands. The Quakers were down 50-30 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Salesianum's win lifted them to 9-8 while Wilmington Friends' loss dropped them down to 8-8. We'll see if the Sallies can repeat their recent success or if Wilmington bounces back and reverse their fortune.
