Even though the Lake Howell Silver Hawks have not done well against the Central Florida Christian Academy Eagles recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Lake Howell took down Central Florida Christian Academy 72-55. Given Lake Howell's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while Central Florida Christian Academy is ranked 396th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lake Howell got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaydon A. Samuels out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds. Samuels is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last five games he's played. Janiel De los santos was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Central Florida Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Semaj Washington, who scored 18 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Cooper Clinger, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Central Florida Christian Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lake Howell pulled down 14 offensive rebounds.
Lake Howell has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for Central Florida Christian Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13.
Lake Howell will take on Boone at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Boone focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Wednesday. As for Central Florida Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Lake Brantley at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Lake Brantley will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
