Softball Recap: Thunder Basin Wins Going Away Against Cody

Thunder Basin barely beat Cody the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bolts put the hurt on the Broncs with a sharp 14-1 victory on Friday. Considering the Bolts have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Paige Shaffer spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Savannah Broeker, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Carter, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Broeker wasn't the only one making solid contact: Thunder Basin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matches.

Thunder Basin's win bumped their record up to 10-1.

They will have a chance to go back-to-back against Cody: the pair will be back at it again later today.
