It was a good run, but the Windsor Charter Academy Firebirds unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Prospect Ridge Academy 70-64. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Windsor Charter Academy saw an underclassman step up: Andrew Schams scored 27 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. The match was Schams' seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brayden Cole, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Prospect Ridge Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Liam Schilling, who scored 20 points along with five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Schilling has scored at least 25% of Prospect Ridge Academy's points. Jackson Brandt was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five rebounds.
Windsor Charter Academy's defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-1. As for Prospect Ridge Academy, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Windsor Charter Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Lyons at 1:00 p.m. on December 16th. Lyons will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 290th, while Windsor Charter Academy is ranked 47th). Prospect Ridge Academy and Hayden will face off at 1:30 p.m. on December 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hayden is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
